Favorite Things

It was You who made the boundaries of the earth.

You made both summer and winter.

Psalm 74:17

The Psalmist does not mention spring or fall, but they are silently included in this declaration of the creation by God of the seasons on earth.  Fall is my favorite, and I have a list of favorite things that occur during this time of the year.

·        Experiencing cooler weather for sweatshirts and sweaters

·        Walking outdoors in the falling leaves

·        Seeing the leaves turn to all their brilliant colors

·        Not having to mow the lawn any more!

·        Buying candy corn (the picture above could be my x-ray!)

·        Turning off the air-conditioning and saving $$ on utility bills

·        Making my favorite soups

·        Beginning my high school teaching job for another year

·        Gathering the family together for Thanksgiving

·        Eating stuffing, mashed potatoes/gravy and pumpkin pie

·        Sitting in the evening in front of the fire

As I took my daily walk today, I basked in the sunlight, the cooler air, and the orange/yellow/red vistas of autumn leaves, and thanked God for this beautiful season.  I hope that you can take some time to enjoy the month of November as we transition into the holiday season.  Blessings!
