Night Revelation

During the night, the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision,
and he blessed the God of heaven.
Daniel 2:19 [NAB]

Some time in the evening of that stressful Babylonian day, Daniel and his three friends rose from their knees and retired to their individual rooms.  There was no anxiety or sleeplessness – these men had opened their hearts and relinquished their burden before the King of the Universe, and they knew He would not fail them. During the night hours, Nebuchadnezzar’s dream and its interpretation was revealed to Daniel.  From a heart overflowing with gratitude and love, Daniel blessed the Creator of all things:

Blessed be the name of God from age to age,
for wisdom and power are His.
He changes times and seasons,
deposes kings and sets up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to those who have understanding.
He reveals deep and hidden things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
and light dwells with Him.
To You, O God of my ancestors,
I give thanks and praise,
For You have given me wisdom and power,
and have now revealed to me what we asked of You,
for You have revealed to us what the king ordered.

After returning to God to give thanks, Daniel hurried to find Arioch.  Do not destroy the wise men of Babylon,” he said; “Bring me in before the king, and I will give the king the interpretation.”  Arioch tried to take credit for finding Daniel: “I have found a man…  Daniel had no need for such importance.  When asked by Nebuchadnezzar, “Can you tell me my dream and the interpretation,” Daniel replied, “No wise men, enchanters, magicians or diviners can show to the king the mystery that the king is asking, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries…”

O Lord of hosts, blessed is everyone who trusts in You.
Psalm 84:12
